I have always felt that teaching first grade is such a rewarding thing to do. The tremendous amount of growth your children will make in this short time we have together will be amazing to watch and I feel lucky to be here to see it!
All of the children come into the classroom with a variety of abilities and backgrounds. My goal is to help your children learn to read, write(or read and write better!), and do basic math by providing strategies that enable them to problem solve on their own. I also hope to provide an environment in the classroom that encourages children to take risks and to further their skills.
This is my fourth year teaching first grade at Sallas Mahone Elementary. Last year was my third year living and teaching in Valdosta. Prior to that, I lived and taught in Salt Lake City, Utah.
My husband, David, and I have an 8 month old daughter named Hadley. She was born near Thanksgiving 2009. I also have a golden retriever named Albert. Your children will come home telling many of the stories I tell them about these three. Especially our misbehaved dog!
I have always loved teaching and after completing my undergraduate degree at Utah State University, I completed my Masters in Elementary Education at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
